Whitehawk launches community grants of up to £10,000 for local projects
A new funding scheme is now open to residents and community groups in Whitehawk to support grassroots projects and neighbourhood improvements.
New funding opportunity for Whitehawk residents
Exciting news for Whitehawk residents and community groups — a brand new grant programme has launched to help bring your ideas to life. The Whitehawk Pride in Place Community Grants scheme is now accepting applications from local organisations, community groups and residents wanting to deliver practical projects that strengthen neighbourhood connections and make a real difference to the area.
Announced by the programme's co-chairs Kane Louis and Donna Whitehead, the scheme offers two flexible types of funding to suit different project needs. Whether you're planning a small community event or a larger infrastructure improvement, there's support available.
Two funding streams to suit your project
Micro grants of up to £1,000 are ideal for events, activities and small-scale community projects that bring neighbours together. If you're thinking bigger, capital grants of up to £10,000 can be used for improvements to buildings, spaces and local assets — the kind of lasting changes that transform neighbourhoods.
Kane Louis and Donna Whitehead said of the launch: "Along with our fellow board members, we are thrilled to be launching this first scheme for the Whitehawk community. We are excited to see what ideas are submitted."
Easy application process
Recognising that accessibility matters, the application process has been designed to be straightforward and inclusive. Applicants begin by submitting an expression of interest, and from there have flexibility in how they proceed. You can apply in writing or, if you prefer, record a short video to explain your project. This approach means there's no single way you must apply — choose the method that works best for you.
Support is available
If you need help with your application, support is readily available. Simply email prideinplace@brighton-hove.gov.uk to get guidance on submitting your ideas.
Part of a bigger vision
The grants scheme is part of the wider Whitehawk Pride in Place programme, which has a bigger mission: to strengthen community connections, improve shared environments and build a genuine sense of pride in the neighbourhood. This funding is one practical way of turning community aspirations into reality.
Whether you've been thinking about organising a community event, improving a local space, or supporting a grassroots initiative, now is the time to get your ideas together and apply. The grants scheme shows a real commitment to supporting local action and giving residents the tools to shape their own neighbourhood.
