Brighton Gets a Visit from Celebrated Dance Theatre Duo
Exciting news for theatre lovers in Brighton: award-winning dance theatre company Thick & Tight is heading to Brighton Dome this autumn with their captivating new show Natural Behaviour.
Co-directed by Daniel Hay-Gordon and El Perry, the company will perform at Brighton Dome on Tuesday, October 13 at 7.30pm, bringing their innovative blend of performance art to our city as part of a wider 2026 autumn tour.
What to Expect from Natural Behaviour
Natural Behaviour is described as a collection of "performed portraits" that explores what it means to be natural or unnatural. The show combines dance, satire, impersonation and poetry to create something truly unique. The cast features Annie Edwards, Azara Meghie and Jahmarley Bachelor, with design by Tim Spooner, Pam Tait and Nao Nagai.
The production has already proven itself a hit with audiences. It previously sold out a week-long run at London's Battersea Arts Centre and builds on the company's impressive track record, following their 2024 tour of Tits & Teeth, which won an OFFIE Award and sold out at the London International Mime Festival.
A Company Breaking Boundaries
Thick & Tight has established itself as a leading force in contemporary dance theatre, performing at major prestigious venues including the Royal Opera House, Barbican and Sadler's Wells. The company has also performed at community and LGBTQ+ spaces such as Duckie and Moth Club, demonstrating their commitment to making performance art accessible to diverse audiences.
A spokesperson for the company explained their artistic mission: "Daniel and El are continually working to open up restrictive and elitist ideas of 'artistic excellence' and to explore dance as a political art form with the power to entertain while challenging social stigma."
Support and Recognition
Thick & Tight is an associate artist at The Lowry and has received support from Arts Council England, Battersea Arts Centre, BalletBoyz and Rambert School of Ballet & Contemporary Dance. Natural Behaviour is co-commissioned by Battersea Arts Centre, The Lowry, Royal Ballet & Opera, Norfolk & Norwich Festival and Duckie.
The tour will visit Newcastle, Edinburgh, Bournemouth, Brighton, Nottingham, Liverpool and Falmouth, bringing this exciting new work to audiences across the UK.
If you're looking for something fresh and thought-provoking to experience this autumn, Natural Behaviour at Brighton Dome promises to deliver innovative performance art that challenges, entertains and inspires.
