Community Wellness Hub Expands

Brighton's beloved Sea Lanes is set to double its sauna offerings, following an enthusiastic community response to Luna Hut's expansion plans. The application to install a second sauna at the popular seafront destination has received 22 letters of support from local residents and regular users.

Strong Local Support

The public backing reflects how much the existing sauna has become valued by the Brighton community. Supporters have described it as "a fantastic business and a huge asset for this area" and praised how it "offers a great area for community and wellbeing."

One regular user commented: "I fully support the expansion of another sauna at their current location. As a regular user of many of the facilities on Madeira Drive, it's been really nice to see such a community being created down there."

Thoughtful Design and Planning

The new sauna will be a small, temporary structure positioned immediately south of the current facility. It will use an electric stove and follow the same design and operational principles as the existing unit, ensuring consistency with what users already love about the space.

According to the planning application, the new sauna will remain a fully removable structure. The design will match the original sauna, using the same construction materials and maintaining clear pedestrian and servicing routes throughout the site.

Protecting Local Operations

Luna Hut has been careful to consider the needs of neighbouring operators and beach maintenance. The application confirms that vehicular access for these essential services will not be affected by the new installation.

Part of a Thriving Wellness Destination

Sea Lanes has evolved into a comprehensive recreational and wellbeing hub on Brighton's seafront. Beyond saunas, the location now offers open-water swimming, fitness classes, yoga, and other leisure activities. The existing sauna already sits comfortably within this ecosystem, operating alongside complementary facilities that serve the local community.

Luna Hut, founded by Laura and Mike, already operates multiple saunas across Sussex, with existing facilities in Eastbourne, Bognor Regis, and Worthing. The company's expansion at Sea Lanes reflects growing demand for wellness and community spaces in the region.

The strong public response to this proposal demonstrates how much Brighton residents value accessible health and wellbeing facilities on their seafront. As planning decisions progress, the community's enthusiasm suggests this expansion will be a welcome addition to an increasingly popular destination.
