New Principal Liz Free Welcomes Over 100 Students to Oxford International College Brighton
Experienced education leader Liz Free has officially begun her role as principal of OIC Brighton, welcoming students aged 13 to 18 for the new academic year.
A Fresh Start for OIC Brighton
Oxford International College Brighton has welcomed a new leader as the academic year gets underway. Liz Free, the college's new principal, has officially begun her role, bringing a wealth of international education experience to the Brighton institution.
Ms Free greeted more than 100 students aged 13 to 18 as they returned to the Ovingdean campus, marking the start of an exciting new chapter for the college community.
Building on Success
The new principal is stepping into a role at a college that has already demonstrated impressive academic achievements. This year, one in three students at OIC Brighton achieved three or more A-levels at grade A or A, whilst 62 per cent of GCSE results were graded A or A.
Ms Free expressed her enthusiasm for the position, saying: "I am excited to lead OIC Brighton into its next phase of development and to build on everything that has been achieved since it opened. The results this year are a testament to the hard work of the students and staff, and I look forward to working with the team further to build on this."
A Commitment to Student Wellbeing
As she settles into her new role, Ms Free has outlined her vision for the college's future. "Developing an ambitious, supportive environment in which young people, and staff, can thrive is my priority," she explained.
Her appointment reflects a commitment to nurturing not just academic excellence, but also the broader development of students as individuals.
International Experience
Ms Free brings considerable experience to Brighton from her previous positions across the globe. Her most recent role was as CEO and director of the International School Rheintal in Switzerland. Before that, she held senior leadership positions at the British School in the Netherlands and at Oxford University Press, giving her a broad perspective on education across different countries and systems.
This international background, combined with her track record in leading school growth and building inclusive communities, positions her well to guide OIC Brighton forward.

OIC Brighton is part of Nord Anglia Education, a global network of more than 90 international schools around the world. Richard Davies, regional managing director (Europe) at Nord Anglia, welcomed Ms Free's appointment.
