There's something truly special about stepping into the Royal Pavilion and being transported back to the opulent days of George IV. Recently, guests experienced exactly that at a dragon-themed banquet that brought the Pavilion's legendary entertaining spirit to life.

The evening began in the kitchens with a welcome cocktail and a glass of bubbly, setting a convivial tone for what was to come. Guests were presented with a vibrant bright green Dragon Punch to kick off the festivities – a fitting introduction to the evening's theme.

An Evening of Entertainment

The real magic unfolded in the Banquet Room, where a quartet of dancers put on a fantastic display before dinner. A string quartet provided elegant musical accompaniment throughout the meal, creating an atmosphere that honoured the Pavilion's rich heritage of hosting distinguished gatherings.

Guests were seated at tables named after iconic dragons – including the 'Drogon' table – adding a playful modern touch to this historic setting. The evening embraced the spirit of formal dining, with traditions like the youngest person at the table having special duties, reminding attendees of the ceremonial nature of grand banquets past.

A Feast Fit for Royalty

The menu showcased Chinese-inspired cuisine served in sharing style, paying homage to the Pavilion's famous East Asian-influenced architecture and design. Generous portions of quality meat and carefully curated dishes were presented throughout the evening, allowing guests to enjoy a truly communal dining experience.

The interiors of the Pavilion provided a breathtaking backdrop – the ornate decorations, the grand architecture, and the sense of history in every corner created an unforgettable setting. As one attendee noted, there is simply nowhere quite like the Pavilion for a banquet.

A Connection to History

Dining at the Royal Pavilion offers more than just a meal; it's an opportunity to experience the elegance and grandeur that George IV himself enjoyed when he held court here. The dragon-themed banquet cleverly weaves together the Pavilion's Oriental inspirations with contemporary entertainment and modern hospitality.

Whether you're a regular visitor or experiencing the Pavilion for the first time, an evening like this reminds us why this iconic building remains one of Brighton and Hove's most treasured venues. It's a chance to dress up, enjoy exceptional food and entertainment, and feel like an esteemed guest in one of the South Coast's most spectacular settings.
