Great news for Sussex beach lovers – Camber Sands has been named one of the UK's top 10 picnic destinations by outdoor experts Millets.
The beautiful East Sussex beach placed 10th overall in the study, which reviewed locations outside of London and scored destinations based on weather, social media popularity and amenities. Camber Sands achieved a respectable score of 6.83 out of 10, cementing its place among the country's finest spots for a seaside lunch.
A sandy spot worth celebrating
The recognition comes as wonderful news for locals and visitors alike, highlighting what many already know – that Camber Sands is a truly special destination for a day out. Top of the rankings went to Sefton Park in Liverpool, followed by Heaton Park in Manchester and Wollaton Park in Nottinghamshire. Other notable mentions in the study included Durdle Door in Dorset and Clumber Park in Nottinghamshire, showing that the UK is blessed with wonderful picnic destinations across the country.

Calum Jones, author and outdoor enthusiast at Millets, has shared some important advice for anyone planning a seaside picnic. The emphasis is very much on leaving your chosen spot exactly as you found it.
"One of the most important things about having a picnic is to ensure that you leave the area in the same condition that you found it," Jones explained. "Most parks will have selected areas to dispose of rubbish, but if there are no bins nearby, taking your rubbish with you and disposing of it at home can stop animals from being hurt or beauty spots from being filled with litter."
Jones also urges picnickers to be mindful about barbecues. "It is also extremely important not to use disposable barbecues," he added. "Whilst available in many supermarkets, they can be dangerous and can cost you hundreds in fines."
