A celebration of LGBTQ+ creativity

Brighton Dome is set to welcome a diverse range of critically acclaimed LGBTQ+ artists throughout the autumn months, promising fresh and innovative takes on beloved performance genres.

The season kicks off with an array of exciting shows that showcase the breadth of queer talent. Among the standout performances is Fatt Butcher's Congregational, an award-winning cabaret artist who will present a newly-composed choral service blending house and trance with gospel and classical music. Performed on October 30, this unique nightclub-inspired experience will feature the Rainbow Chorus—a live choir of professional LGBTQ+ vocalists—alongside a DJ and piano accompaniment.

Theatre and dance take centre stage

Theatre lovers will be delighted by Thick & Tight's Natural Behaviour, a Critics Circle Award-nominated show that takes a queer perspective on notions of being 'natural' or 'unnatural'. This inventive blend of dance, theatre, mime, and poetry will grace the Corn Exchange on October 13.

Comedy brings laughter to the city

Brighton Dome's Comedy Festival in October marks a new partnership with Komedia to present acclaimed LGBTQ+ comedians. The line-up features Simon Amstell, whose show I Love It Here offers a frank, self-deprecating confessional about first loves, queer awakenings, and personal transformation (October 22).

Edinburgh Comedy Award-nominated Catherine Bohart will perform Borrowing Trouble in the Corn Exchange on October 16, humorously exploring mental health, lesbian relationships, and family dynamics. BBC New Comedy Award winner Dan Tiernan will share his coming-out story in Quartz and All at the Studio Theatre on October 23.

Festive celebrations conclude the season

As autumn gives way to winter, Brighton Dome's LGBTQ+ celebration continues with a series of festive events featuring local queer artists. Brighton's Big Drag Pageant returns on December 10, offering a winter spectacle celebrating the city's vibrant underground alternative drag scene.

On December 12, the Brighton Gay Men's Chorus will present an innovative festive concert with a twist—a murder mystery told through Christmas classics, promising entertainment that's both heartwarming and entertaining.

What's next

This autumn line-up demonstrates Brighton Dome's commitment to championing LGBTQ+ voices and providing a platform for artists who are reinventing traditional performance formats. Whether you're interested in cutting-edge cabaret, thought-provoking theatre, comedy that hits close to home, or festive celebration, there's something for everyone.
